چکیده

The structure of the galactan isolated from the albumin gland o f Achatina fulica (African giant snail) was investigated by methylation analyses. The m olecule is highly branched. The linkages o f the exclusively present D-galactose are 1 —► 3 and/or 1 —> 6 . From lectin binding studies it was learnt that the 1 -* 3 linkages possess ^-configuration. The anomeric configuration o f the 1 -» 6 linkage is unknown. A tentative structure o f the galactan is proposed.

Molecular dynamics simulation and docking studies on the binding properties of several anticancer drugs to human serum albumin

Disposition and transportation of anticancer drugs by human serum albumin (HSA) affects their bioavailability, distribution and elimination. In this study, the interaction of a set of anticancer drugs with HSA was investigated by molecular dynamics and molecular docking simulations. The drugs' activities were analyzed according to their docking scores, binding sites and structural descriptors. ...

Localization of Pectic Galactan in Tomato Cell Walls Using a Monoclonal Antibody Specific to (1 --+4)-P-~-Galactan’

To develop antibody probes for the neutral side chains of pectins, antisera were generated to a pectic galactan isolated from tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum) pericarp cell walls and to a (1 +4)-pgalactotetraose-bovine serum albumin neoglycoprotein. l h e use of these two antisera in immunochemical assays and immunolocalization studies indicated that they had very similar specificities. A monoc...

Glucose and Fluoxetine Induce Fine Structural Change in Human Serum Albumin

Human serum albumin has been used as a model protein for protein folding and ligand binding studies over many decades. Due to its long life period and high concentration in plasma, HSA is highly sensitive to glycation. It is reported that 175 mg/dL glucose concentration is a threshold of kidney activity for the beginning of excretion of glucose. pH denaturation of HSA in absence and presence of...
